'ทรัมป์' ระบุสหรัฐฯ จะเริ่มตัดเงินช่วยเหลือประเทศอเมริกากลาง จากกรณีขบวนคาราวานผู้อพยพ

ประธานาธิบดีสหรัฐฯ โดนัลด์ ทรัมป์ ทวีตข้อความในวันจันทร์ว่า สหรัฐฯ จะเริ่มตัดความช่วยเหลือด้านการเงินที่ให้กับประเทศกัวเตมาลา ฮอนดูรัส และเอล ซัลวาดอร์

โดยให้เหตุผลว่าประเทศเหล่านี้ไม่สามารถสกัดกั้นขบวนคาราวานผู้อพยพจากประเทศของตนเอง ที่กำลังมุ่งหน้ามายังพรมแดนด้านทิศใต้ของสหรัฐฯ อย่างผิดกฎหมาย

ทวีตของผู้นำสหรัฐฯ มีขึ้นขณะที่ขบวนผู้อพยพหลายพันคน ซึ่งส่วนใหญ่มาจากฮอนดูรัส เดินทางมาถึงเมืองทาปาชูลา ทางใต้ของเม็กซิโก และแวะพักค้างคืนก่อนที่จะมุ่งหน้ามายังสหรัฐฯ เพื่อหนีความรุนแรงและความยากจนในประเทศของตน

ปธน.ทรัมป์ ระบุว่า "เป็นเรื่องน่าเศร้าที่ตำรวจและทหารเม็กซิกันไม่สามารถยับยั้งขบวนคาราวานนี้ไม่ให้มาถึงพรมแดนทางใต้ของสหรัฐฯ ซึ่งในกลุ่มผู้อพยพเหล่านี้มีอาชญากรและคนจากตะวันออกกลางที่ไม่ทราบประวัติ ร่วมเดินทางปะปนมาด้วย"

ปธน.ทรัมป์ เผยว่า ตนได้สั่งการไปยังตำรวจตระเวณชายแดนให้เตรียมพร้อมแล้ว และนี่ถือเป็นสถานการณ์ฉุกเฉินแห่งชาติ

ด้านสำนักงานผู้ลี้ภัยของสหประชาชาติ ประเมินว่ามีผู้อพยพในขบวนคาราวานนี้ราว 7,200 คน ในจำนวนนี้ 1 ใน 4 เป็นเด็ก โดยยูเอ็นได้จัดส่งเจ้าหน้าที่ 32 คนไปยังเม็กซิโก เพื่อจัดหาความช่วยเหลือด้านการบรรเทาทุกข์และการปรึกษาทางกฎหมายให้กับผู้อพยพเหล่านั้นด้วย

รัฐมนตรีต่างประเทศสหรัฐฯ ไมค์ พอมเพโอ (Mike Pompeo) กล่าวว่า รัฐบาลสหรัฐฯ จับตามองขบวนคาราวานเหล่านี้อย่างใกล้ชิด และกล่าวหาว่าผู้อพยพกำลังละเมิดอธิปไตยของกฎหมายของประเทศที่พวกเขาเดินทางไปถึง

รัฐมนตรีพอมเพโอ ยังได้กล่าวสนับสนุนความพยายามของรัฐบาลเม็กซิโกในการจัดการกับเหตุการณ์นี้ด้วย
