Weekend With VOA Highlights 9/11 and the Republican National Convention - 2004-09-06

Join Khun Nittaya as she interviews Rattaphol Onsanit in New York City on the subjects of the Republican National Convention and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Being that the third anniversary of the terrorist attacks are a week away, the Republicans have used this example to boost the image of President George W. Bush, saying he handled the tragedy extremely well. Americans have received this example with mixed feelings. Some say it is appropriate, while others are upset over the use of this tragedy for political gain.

Also in this week's show, Khun Nittaya and Khun Jesda review the movie "Vanity Fair" starring Reese Witherspoon. Based on the novel by William Makepeace Thakeray, "Vanity Fair" follows Becky Sharp (Reese Witherspoon) from her beginnings as an orphan to the mid to upper reaches of British aristocracy.

This week's selection of music is "Gloria" by the late Laura Branigan. The VOA Thai service had fun putting this show together for you, and we hope you'll enjoy listening, too!
