ปธน.บารัค โอบาม่า และภริยา นางมิเชล โอบาม่า พร้อมด้วยเจ้าหน้าที่ทำเนียบขาว จัดพิธีรำลึกในช่วงเช้าวันศุกร์ ที่สนามหญ้าหน้าทำเนียบขาว เมื่อเวลา 8.46 น. ซึ่งเป็นเวลาที่่เครื่องบินลำแรกชนอาคารเวิร์ลเทรดเซนเตอร์ในนครนิวยอร์ค
