คุณตา John Betar วัย 101 ปี และคุณยาย Ann Betar วัย 97 ปี แห่งเมือง Fairfield รัฐ Connecticut เพิ่งจะครองรักกันครบ 80 ปีไปเมื่อปีที่แล้ว โดยทั้งคู่แต่งงานกันเมื่อวันที่ 25 พ.ย ปี พ.ศ 2475 ปัจจุบันมีบุตร 5 คน หลาน 14 คน และเหลน 16 คน

องค์กร Worldwide Marriage Encounter ในรัฐ California เลือกให้คุณตาและคุณยายคู่นี้เป็นคู่ที่ครองรักยาวนานที่สุดในสหรัฐประจำปีนี้ โดยทุกๆปีองค์กรนี้จะค้นหาและให้รางวัลคู่สมรสที่ครองรักนานที่สุด เพื่อสนับสนุนการแต่งงานแบบยาวนาน และเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้คนหนุ่มสาวรุ่นใหม่ให้มีคู่ครองคนเดียวตลอดชีวิต

คุณตา John Betar และคุณยาย Ann Betar ให้สัมภาษณ์กับ ABC ว่าพวกตนโชคดีมากที่ครองรักกันมานานขนาดนี้ คุณยายยังบอกด้วยว่าความรักที่ตนมอบให้กันนั้นเป็นความรักที่ไม่มีเงื่อนไขและเต็มไปด้วยความเข้าอกเข้าใจ นอกจากนี้คู่รักคู่นี้ยังได้แนะเคล็ดลับให้ชีวิตคู่ยืนยาว นั่นคือต้องประนีประนอมและหากมีอะไรไม่พอใจกันก็มาควรเก็บไว้

คุณตาคุณยายคู่นี้เติบโตมาด้วยกันที่ชุมชนเล็กๆแห่งหนึ่งในเมือง Bridgeport รัฐ Connecticut โดยคุณยาย Ann ถูกพ่อแม่คลุมถุงชน แต่เธอตัดสินใจหนีมาอยู่กับคุณตา John ขณะที่เธออายุเพียง 17 ปีและคุณตาอายุ 21 ปี ซึ่งเธอบอกว่าตอนนี้เธอรู้แล้วว่าการตัดสินใจของเธอครั้งนั้น เป็นการตัดสินใจที่ถูกต้องที่สุดในชีวิต
