การสำรวจครูมากกว่า 2,000 ในสหรัฐโดยสถาบัน Pew พบว่าอินเตอร์เน็ทช่วยให้การเรียนการสอนน่าสนใจมากขึ้นแต่ขณะเดียวกันก็ทำให้นักเรียนขาดทักษะในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ครูบอกวว่านักเรียนยังขาดความรู้เท่าทันของข้อมูลทางอินเตอร์เน็ท และเลือกที่จะเชื่อความรู้ออนไลน์มากเกินไป

ในรายงานที่ชื่อว่า Pew Internet Project ครู 75% ที่ตอบแบบสอบถามกล่าวว่านักเรียนชั้นมัธยมต้นและมัธยมปลายได้รับประโยชน์จากโลกออนไลน์ด้านพฤติกรรมและทักษะในการค้นหาข้อมูล

อย่างไรก็ตาม 87% ห็นว่าเทคโนโลยีใหม่ๆทำให้สมาธินักเรียนสั้นลง และ 64% กล่าวว่า เทคโนโลยีเหล่านี้ดึงความสนใจนักเรียนไปเรื่องอื่นมากกว่าเรื่องเรียนหนังสือ

Judy Buchnan รองผู้อำนวยการจากโครงการการศึกษา National Writing Project และเป็นผู้ร่วมเขียนรายงานจากการสำรวจชิ้นนี้กล่าวว่านักเรียนควรเรียนรู้การแยกแยะข้อมูลที่เชื่อถือได้ ออกจากข้อมูลที่ไม่น่าเชือถือ ซึ่งเป็นทักษะที่ครูสามารถช่วยพัฒนาได้
