ปธน. บารัค โอบาม่า เร่งเร้าให้วุฒิสภาสหรัฐ อนุมัติร่างกฏหมาย ป้องกันไม่ให้ภาษีเงินได้บุคคลธรรมดา และภาษีภาคธุรกิจเพิ่มขึ้นโดยอัตโนมัติ ในวันที่ 1 มกราคมที่กำลังจะมาถึง

นางฮิลลารี่ คลินตัน รมต. ต่างประเทศสหรัฐกล่าวเมื่อวันเสาร์ที่สิงค์โปร์ว่า ขณะนี้งานของกองทัพสหรัฐในสงครามอิรัคได้จบลงแล้ว และสงครามในอาฟกานิสถานก็ใกล้ถึงจุดจบแล้วเช่นกัน และสหรัฐอเมริกากำลังมุ่งหาทางสร้างความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจทั่วโลก
