ผู้นำการเมืองโลกครอง 6 ตำแหน่งใน 10 อันดับแรกในการจัดอันดับบุคคลที่ทรงอิทธิพลที่สุดในโลกของ Forbes โดย ปธน.โอบาม่าครองอันดับ 1 ตามมาด้วย นายกฯเยอรมนี อังเกล่า เมอร์เคิ่ล ปธน.รัสเซีย วลาดิเมียร์ ปูติน กษัตริย์ซาอุฯ อับดุลลาห์ บิน อับดุลลาซิส และนายกฯอังกฤษ เดวิด แคเมอร่อน สำหรับนักธุรกิจที่อยู่ในอันดับสูงสุดคือ บิล เกตส์ ผู้ก่อตั้งบริษัท Microsoft ซึ่งติดที่ 4 ส่วนประธานธนาคารกลางของสหรัฐและยุโรปต่างคิดอยู่ใน Top Ten เช่นกัน

ธนาคารกลางยุโรปคาดการณ์ว่า เศรษฐกิจของประเทศกลุ่มยูโรโซน 17 ประเทศน่าจะหดตัวลง 0.5% ในปีนี้ และลดลง 0.3% ในปีหน้า ก่อนที่จะขยายตัวอีกครั้งในปี ค.ศ 2014 ที่ 1.2%

บริษัทกาแฟ Starbucks คาดการณ์ว่าจีนกำลังจะก้าวมาเป็นประเทศที่มีตลาดลูกค้าของ Starbucks รายใหญ่อันดับ 2 ของโลกรองจากอเมริกาภายในช่วง 2 ปีข้างหน้า โดยปัจจุบัน Starbucks มีร้านสาขาราว 700 แห่งในจีน และมียอดขายเฉลี่ย $886,000 ต่อสาขาต่อปี

วงป๊อบ Fun เจ้าของเพลงดัง We Are Young และ Some Nights ได้รับเสนอชื่อชิงรางวัลแกรมมี่ 6 สาขารวมทั้งสาขาสำคัญคืออัลบั้มแห่งปี ศิลปินหน้าใหม่ยอดเยี่ยม เพลงแห่งปีและเรคคอร์ดแห่งปี โดยรางวัลแกรมมี่จะประกาศผลในเดือน ก.พ ปีหน้าที่นครลอส แองเจลลีส
