การแข่งขันกอล์ฟรายการ WGC Match Play ที่สนาม Riviera Country Club รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย รอบชิงชนะเลิศวันสุดท้าย โปรชาวอเมริกัน Matt Kuchar เอาชนะเพื่อนร่วมชาติและแชมป์เก่า Hunter Mahan โดยมีคะแนนนำ 2 แต้นเมื่อจบหลุมที่ 17 ทำให้คว้าแชมป์ไปโดยไม่ต้องเล่นหลุมสุดท้าย นับเป็นแชมป์ WGC Match Play ครั้งแรกของ Matt Kuchar และทำให้คะแนนสะสมของเขากระโดขึ้นมาอยู่ที่ 8 ในการจัดอันดับล่าสุดของ World Golf Ranking โดยอันดับ 1 ยังคงเป็น Rory McIlroy อันดับ 2 Tiger Woods และอันดับ 3 Luke Donald

ในขณะเดียวกัน สมาคมนักกอล์ฟอาชีพอเมริกัน(PGA) ออกมาปฏิเสธข้อเสนอของสมาคมกอล์ฟสหรัฐ(USGA) ที่ต้องการให้ห้ามใช้พัตเตอร์แบบยาวติดหน้าท้องหรือหน้าอกหรือ Belly Putter ในการแข่งขันกอล์ฟอาชีพ โดย PGA ระบุว่าข้อเสนอของ USGA นั้นไม่มีหลักฐานเพียงพอว่า Belly Putter ทำให้ผู้เล่นได้เปรียบในการแข่งขันได้อย่างไร คาดว่าการตัดสินเรื่องนี้จะมีขึ้นในอีกไม่กี่สัปดาห์ และถ้าห้ามใช้จริงจะมีผลในอีก 3 ปีข้างหน้าคือปี ค.ศ 2016

อีกด้านหนึ่ง โปรกอล์ฟหญิงชื่อดังมากมายกำลังมุ่งหน้าไปยังสิงคโปร์เพื่อร่วมแข่งในรายการ HSBC Women’s LPGA หลังจบการแข่งขัน Honda LPGA ที่พัทยาไปเมื่อสุดสัปดาห์ที่แล้ว โดย Inbee Park แซงหน้าเอรียา จุฑานุกาล คว้าแชมป์ไปได้ในวันสุดท้าย
